“Math and art seem to be worlds apart at first, but really, both are just ways of interpreting the universe we live in. As a double major in Creative Media and Applied Mathematics, the intersection of logic and creativity is a very relevant idea to me. With this piece, I am focusing on how math and art can be used in tandem. I was inspired by Sir Roger Penrose, a British mathematician who won a Nobel Prize for his work with black holes, as well as discovered a set of mathematically interesting tiles. Penrose tiles, as they¡¯re known, are aperiodic, meaning that the pattern they form never completely repeats itself.”
