Asian Student Association (ASA)

Description

The Asian Student Association was created to make a safe space and learning environment for people who identify as Asian and/or want to know more about Asian culture.?Club members are not required to be Asian American or Pacific Islanders. The club includes members of all races and promotes cultural awareness at Champlain College and throughout the 足彩胜负14场 community. The club meets on the first Wednesday of every month and hosts various events throughout the year.

Black Student Union

Description

Black Student Union (BSU) is a student-run group sponsored by the Student Government Association (SGA) with a threefold mission: create a safe space and supportive environment for students of color to express their opinions, ideas, and cultures; increase awareness and appreciation for Black history, culture, and issues through educational events, cultural celebrations, and open and engaging conversations; and support and advocate for issues that affect our students of color.

CHAMP

Description

CHAMP is a student-run organization that plans and hosts exciting and spirit-filled events on campus each semester. All students are welcome to participate in CHAMP meetings and to volunteer as staff for CHAMP events. As a member of CHAMP, you are an integral part of the planning process–from brainstorming ideas to decorating and event execution. This club serves as a driving force for student involvement and engaging events! Our biggest celebrations of the year include: Spirit Week, the Halloween Dance, Late-Night Breakfast, the Snowball Dance, and Spring Meltdown.

Description

Champlain Club Esports is the largest club on campus. We support multiple teams and run interactive community events. Champlain Crochet

Description

Champlain Crochet is a space for people to de-stress and crochet in an easygoing but invigorating environment. Whether you’re an expert or know nothing about crochet, the club is a space for everyone to learn and support one another.

Bringing your own supplies is not required for participation, but is encouraged. We have yarn, crochet hooks, stitch markers, and yarn needles that club attendees can use.

Champlain EcoReps

Description

Take action and become a leader for a better planet!

Eco-Reps are peer educators within college residence halls that model environmentally responsible living behaviors and conduct education and outreach to fellow residents. They are trained and coordinated by the Office of Sustainability on a weekly basis to create monthly themes that provide information and activities focused within the residential areas on campus, and more broadly throughout campus.

Eco-Reps’ goals are to:

• Increase student engagement and community building through peer leadership
• Increase environmental behaviors on campus like waste reduction, energy and water conservation, alternative methods of transportation, and conscious consumption.

Champlain Outdoors

Description

The mission of our club is to foster a community of individuals who are eager to spend time out in nature. Whether it be hiking across the rolling hills of Vermont’s Green Mountains in a sea of fall colors, paddling through the lakes, creeks, and rivers of the New York Adirondacks, or gliding across the snow on a cross-country skiing trail, we are committed to getting you out there. Our trips vary in difficulty, ranging from casual day hikes simply meant for appreciating the beauty of the woods, to strenuous treks that will be a true test of endurance. Regardless of whether you consider yourself to be a casual hiker or a rugged adventurer, there is something here for you. Formerly known as the Champlain Hiking Club.

Chivomengro

Description

Chivomengro aims to publish a monthly zine of personal essays, satire, and cultural commentary. The staff loves to include graphically driven pieces, such as comics or graphic literature, that speak to the college experience.

Chivomengro stays true to its commitment to the writer—contributors have the freedom to submit what they want. The editorial team takes great pride in publishing essays on the human experience, including reviews of pop culture, music, movies, and satire pieces. Chivomengro highly encourages submissions from Champlain College students and remains open for reading on a rolling basis.

Climb Champlain

Description

Rock Climbing is a great way to de-stress after long days of studying and schoolwork. It’s also a great way to stay fit, meet new people, and exercise problem solving. Digital Forensics Association

Description

The Digital Forensics Association (DFA) is a dynamic student organization that meets biweekly in collaboration with the Cybersecurity Club. Open to students and faculty from all divisions, DFA offers an engaging platform to explore the intricacies of investigating, analyzing, and recovering digital evidence from electronic devices and digital systems. DREAM

Description

The DREAM program provides 1-on-1 mentoring to children in the local community. The club offers enriching experiences, engaging the children in fun activities around 足彩胜负14场 and the Champlain College campus. This not only provides them with memorable experiences but also broadens their horizons and encourages exploration. A strong bond between Champlain College and the greater 足彩胜负14场 area is an essential part of the DREAM program’s mission. Description

Hearthlight is a club where students meet twice a week to engage in physical activities using foam props. The main activities include games such as capture the flag and red-light, green-light. The Crossover

Description

Written by students, for students.

The Crossover is a digital publication serving as the “Intersection among News, Arts, and Culture at Champlain College.” It provides an honest and independent view of Champlain’s campus and culture through an authentic and informative perspective by researching relevant issues and events while following open and transparent reporting practices.

Four main categories allow for a diverse platform of featured stories:

• News pieces include relevant happenings around campus—and sometimes at the national level—that provide critical information to the Champlain community.
• Feature pieces are human-interest stories with in-depth research and careful planning.
• Opinion pieces delve into the unique views of the students writing them.
• Culture pieces showcase the social atmosphere on campus, as well as the city of 足彩胜负14场, including reviews and advice columns.

The Crossover’s staff is made up of writers, section editors, copy editors, photographers, artists, a social media manager, and an editor-in-chief. If you want to join our team, or contribute a story, email champlaincrossover@gmail.com with your pitch or completed draft for feedback!

The Grind

Description

The Grind is an open mic coffee house that provides a safe space for people to express themselves through performance. The audience can relax, meet new people, and spend time with friends. Every Wednesday from 9:00-11:30 PM in Fireside Lounge, there is a player’s sheet; it’s first to sign-up, first to play. We have a sound system and an electric piano for acoustic music. There’s always snacks/coffee available. Our goals are to provide a safe environment for creative expression and creative community and to create an environment that develops and nurtures our performers.

The Well

Description

The Well is an evolving, collaborative publication produced by Champlain students enrolled in the Professional Writing Program’s Magazine Publishing course (WRT-215). Topics and themes vary each semester, as students take charge and mold each issue in accordance with their collective priorities and interests.

Students oversee every aspect of The Well, contributing to its written content, design, editing, and marketing. One issue is published each semester the course is offered.

Willard & Maple

Description

Willard & Maple is Champlain’s student-run literary magazine, publishing annual issues that feature visual art, poetry, short fiction, and nonfiction. Its mission is to broadcast the diverse and powerful voices in the Champlain community out to the world.

Willard & Maple accepts submissions from the Champlain community. Guidelines for submissions are on its website, as is a link to W&M’s Submittable page. Willard & Maple staff engage in a democratic voting process to determine acceptances.

The Willard & Maple office is not a traditional college-magazine workplace. Students completely take charge of the editorial process, and the review board for submissions is entirely composed of young writers. Nobody’s here to pour coffee and punch copy.

Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS)

Description

Our Women in Cybersecurity chapter is part of an international organization dedicated to providing resources, opportunities, and mentorship to women and gender minorities in cybersecurity. We host events to provide a sense of support and camaraderie to women and gender minorities studying cybersecurity. We also attend the national Women in Cybersecurity conference in the spring as a group to represent the college. Our meetings are open to all, not just women or cybersecurity majors.

Description

Women In Games (W.I.G.) is a club that was created to show the value that women, femme-identifying, non-binary professionals, and allies hold within the Game Studio at Champlain College. By providing its members with access to technology, and conducting professional development workshops with keynote guest speakers, there is an elimination of any barriers that may be held within the industry. W.I.G. at Champlain College works with two organizations, Women in Games International (W.I.G.I.) as well as the Women In Games (W.I.G.) based out of the UK. The Womxn in Technology Club offers a safe and supportive space for students who are considered minorities in the field of technology. Yarn for Good is a club where people can gather to knit and crochet, learn how to do so, and have the opportunity to donate to a local organization.
