Champlain College Dance Team

Description

The Champlain College Dance Team is a fun way for students to dance in college without the pressure of tryouts. Previous dance experience is appreciated, but is not required. We work on many fun and unique projects during the year and experiment with different dance styles. At the end of the year, there is an opportunity to perform at the annual Champlain College Dance Team (CCDT) Showcase, with original choreography from our members. We strive to have a positive and safe environment for everyone to be in their bodies comfortably while dancing.

Champlain College Esports

Description

Champlain Club Esports is the largest club on campus. We support multiple teams and run interactive community events. The club competes across a variety of games including Overwatch, Splatoon, Apex Legends, League of Legends, Valorant, and many more. The club also works hand-in-hand with our Varsity Esports Program.

Champlain Crochet

Description

Champlain Crochet is a space for people to de-stress and crochet in an easygoing but invigorating environment. Whether you’re an expert or know nothing about crochet, the club is a space for everyone to learn and support one another.

Bringing your own supplies is not required for participation, but is encouraged. We have yarn, crochet hooks, stitch markers, and yarn needles that club attendees can use.

Champlain Destiny

Description

The Champlain Destiny Club is an inclusive place for fans of the game “Destiny 2” to talk about and enjoy the game with fellow students. Over the semester, we host many events ranging from raid nights to in-game fashion contests on our discord server and sometimes in person. Our club is open to anyone of any skill level, and we are always happy to accept and meet new members!

Chivomengro

Description

Chivomengro aims to publish a monthly zine of personal essays, satire, and cultural commentary. The staff loves to include graphically driven pieces, such as comics or graphic literature, that speak to the college experience.

Chivomengro stays true to its commitment to the writer—contributors have the freedom to submit what they want. The editorial team takes great pride in publishing essays on the human experience, including reviews of pop culture, music, movies, and satire pieces. Chivomengro highly encourages submissions from Champlain College students and remains open for reading on a rolling basis.

Description

The Digital Forensics Association (DFA) is a dynamic student organization that meets biweekly in collaboration with the Cybersecurity Club. Open to students and faculty from all divisions, DFA offers an engaging platform to explore the intricacies of investigating, analyzing, and recovering digital evidence from electronic devices and digital systems. Description

Our club is driven by a collective curiosity to explore the intricate artistry that makes horror movies so irresistibly captivating. Geared toward those with a penchant for the mysterious, the horrifying, and the thrilling, our aim is to dissect the essence of exceptional horror. The Champlayers

Description

We are a completely student-run theater club that produces a show each semester. We are an audition-based club, but we also have positions in tech and encourage students to join our discord to keep informed about what opportunities we have open! The Crossover

Description

Written by students, for students.

The Crossover is a digital publication serving as the “Intersection among News, Arts, and Culture at Champlain College.” It provides an honest and independent view of Champlain’s campus and culture through an authentic and informative perspective by researching relevant issues and events while following open and transparent reporting practices.

Four main categories allow for a diverse platform of featured stories:

• News pieces include relevant happenings around campus—and sometimes at the national level—that provide critical information to the Champlain community.
• Feature pieces are human-interest stories with in-depth research and careful planning.
• Opinion pieces delve into the unique views of the students writing them.
• Culture pieces showcase the social atmosphere on campus, as well as the city of 足彩胜负14场, including reviews and advice columns.

The Crossover’s staff is made up of writers, section editors, copy editors, photographers, artists, a social media manager, and an editor-in-chief. If you want to join our team, or contribute a story, email champlaincrossover@gmail.com with your pitch or completed draft for feedback!

The Grind

Description

The Grind is an open mic coffee house that provides a safe space for people to express themselves through performance. The audience can relax, meet new people, and spend time with friends. Every Wednesday from 9:00-11:30 PM in Fireside Lounge, there is a player’s sheet; it’s first to sign-up, first to play. We have a sound system and an electric piano for acoustic music. There’s always snacks/coffee available. Our goals are to provide a safe environment for creative expression and creative community and to create an environment that develops and nurtures our performers.

The Well

Description

The Well is an evolving, collaborative publication produced by Champlain students enrolled in the Professional Writing Program’s Magazine Publishing course (WRT-215). Topics and themes vary each semester, as students take charge and mold each issue in accordance with their collective priorities and interests.

Students oversee every aspect of The Well, contributing to its written content, design, editing, and marketing. One issue is published each semester the course is offered.

Willard & Maple

Description

Willard & Maple is Champlain’s student-run literary magazine, publishing annual issues that feature visual art, poetry, short fiction, and nonfiction. Its mission is to broadcast the diverse and powerful voices in the Champlain community out to the world.

Willard & Maple accepts submissions from the Champlain community. Guidelines for submissions are on its website, as is a link to W&M’s Submittable page. Willard & Maple staff engage in a democratic voting process to determine acceptances.

The Willard & Maple office is not a traditional college-magazine workplace. Students completely take charge of the editorial process, and the review board for submissions is entirely composed of young writers. Nobody’s here to pour coffee and punch copy.

Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS)

Description

Our Women in Cybersecurity chapter is part of an international organization dedicated to providing resources, opportunities, and mentorship to women and gender minorities in cybersecurity. We host events to provide a sense of support and camaraderie to women and gender minorities studying cybersecurity. We also attend the national Women in Cybersecurity conference in the spring as a group to represent the college. Our meetings are open to all, not just women or cybersecurity majors.

Description

Women In Games (W.I.G.) is a club that was created to show the value that women, femme-identifying, non-binary professionals, and allies hold within the Game Studio at Champlain College. By providing its members with access to technology, and conducting professional development workshops with keynote guest speakers, there is an elimination of any barriers that may be held within the industry. W.I.G. at Champlain College works with two organizations, Women in Games International (W.I.G.I.) as well as the Women In Games (W.I.G.) based out of the UK. Description

The Womxn in Technology Club offers a safe and supportive space for students who are considered minorities in the field of technology. While the club mainly focuses on the experiences of students who are minorities in regard to gender (female-identifying and gender non-conforming), all students are welcome. Yarn for Good is a club where people can gather to knit and crochet, learn how to do so, and have the opportunity to donate to a local organization.
