Champlain Film Society

Description

Champlain Film Society is a club for all majors and all years who are interested in learning more about film. We strive to build a community among our members that will support them throughout their time at Champlain. In addition to collaborating, we provide guest speakers, equipment demos, and student screenings for anyone to join.

Champlain Mathematics Club

Description

The Mathematics Club is for all students who are interested in mathematics and its applications to real life. We celebrate math and the positive impact it can have through events and community outreach. Every spring, we take students to The Hudson River Undergraduate Mathematics Conference, where you have the opportunity to give a talk on a math-related topic you are passionate about.

Champlain Production Club

Description

The Production Club brings together students from several majors to produce a variety of video and audio content. We work on students’ passion projects that may fall outside the curriculum of classes. We also shoot videos for several local businesses to use on their websites and social media.

Chivomengro

Description

Chivomengro aims to publish a monthly zine of personal essays, satire, and cultural commentary. The staff loves to include graphically driven pieces, such as comics or graphic literature, that speak to the college experience.

Chivomengro stays true to its commitment to the writer—contributors have the freedom to submit what they want. The editorial team takes great pride in publishing essays on the human experience, including reviews of pop culture, music, movies, and satire pieces. Chivomengro highly encourages submissions from Champlain College students and remains open for reading on a rolling basis.

Design Club

Description

The Design Club is a place for students from any major to connect with others who have an interest in graphic design. We’ll engage in club challenges, peer review critiques on personal and academic projects, and go on occasional trips to local design companies and art galleries. Digital Forensics Association

Description

The Digital Forensics Association (DFA) is a dynamic student organization that meets biweekly in collaboration with the Cybersecurity Club. Open to students and faculty from all divisions, DFA offers an engaging platform to explore the intricacies of investigating, analyzing, and recovering digital evidence from electronic devices and digital systems. Throughout the academic year, DFA hosts a range of captivating events, such as enlightening guest speakers, hands-on Capture The Flag (CTF) challenges, hardware hacking nights, and movie nights.

Stiller Women in Business

Description

Stiller Women in Business is a group of students who are committed to giving women and other marginalized communities within the business world a safe space to hang out and talk about classes and other activities on campus. You do not have to be female identifying or a business major to participate in the club. Our goal is to explore, transform, and ignite the business world, and this starts with us. Through the combined efforts of its members and leaders in the business community, SWIB strengthens their professional expertise to positively impact their careers and society.

The Well

Description

The Well is an evolving, collaborative publication produced by Champlain students enrolled in the Professional Writing Program’s Magazine Publishing course (WRT-215). Topics and themes vary each semester, as students take charge and mold each issue in accordance with their collective priorities and interests.

Students oversee every aspect of The Well, contributing to its written content, design, editing, and marketing. One issue is published each semester the course is offered.

Willard & Maple

Description

Willard & Maple is Champlain’s student-run literary magazine, publishing annual issues that feature visual art, poetry, short fiction, and nonfiction. Its mission is to broadcast the diverse and powerful voices in the Champlain community out to the world.

Willard & Maple accepts submissions from the Champlain community. Guidelines for submissions are on its website, as is a link to W&M’s Submittable page. Willard & Maple staff engage in a democratic voting process to determine acceptances.

The Willard & Maple office is not a traditional college-magazine workplace. Students completely take charge of the editorial process, and the review board for submissions is entirely composed of young writers. Nobody’s here to pour coffee and punch copy.

Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS)

Description

Our Women in Cybersecurity chapter is part of an international organization dedicated to providing resources, opportunities, and mentorship to women and gender minorities in cybersecurity. We host events to provide a sense of support and camaraderie to women and gender minorities studying cybersecurity. We also attend the national Women in Cybersecurity conference in the spring as a group to represent the college. Our meetings are open to all, not just women or cybersecurity majors.

Womxn in Technology

Description

The Womxn in Technology Club offers a safe and supportive space for students who are considered minorities in the field of technology. While the club mainly focuses on the experiences of students who are minorities in regard to gender (female-identifying and gender non-conforming), all students are welcome. Diverse experiences and perspectives are what our club is all about! Join us for a mix of community building and technical nights, where we invite guest speakers, talk about different technologies folks are interested in, and do hands-on educational activities and labs.
